Premier Projects renovates popular community basketball court in Angola

A popular basketball court in Angola has been refurbished thanks to the work of Premier Projects.

The Field of Marcal in Luanda had fallen into such a bad state that it was barely usable.

Now, the court is almost unrecognizable thanks to Premier Projects, the community department of Angola’s leading bookmaker, Premier Bet.

A spokesman for Premier Projects said: Located in the Rangel municipality of Angola’s capital, Luanda, the court can be accessed by 260,000 residents. The repair work means that the community, especially young people, can now shoot some hoops and stay active.

Francisco Naval, the District Administrator for Rangel said:

“Basketball is hugely popular in Angola but there needs to be more facilities for people to practice their game. Premier Bet and Premier Projects is proud to be able to refurbish the Field of Marcal and gift it to the neighborhood.”

Basketball is one of the most popular sports in Angola. Its popularity has increased thanks to the presence of Angolan NBA star, Bruno Fernando, who plies his trade for the Atlanta Hawks.

Bruno was born in Luanda and learned his game on similar courts to this one.

Premier Projects has shown it’s dedication to the Angolan community before. In 2020 the betting company donated food and sanitary packages to Rangel and Cazenga, another district in Luanda. Earlier this year, they donated PPE to a hospital.

“I would like to thank Premier Projects for the rehabilitation of this court. I believe the impact will be positive, as residents will benefit from having a decent place to practice sports.It is an asset to my municipality because this will bring joy to residents.”
