Premier Projects launches a new basketball arena in Rwanda

We are delighted to share some major news: the launch of our new football arena in collaboration with the Gisimba Memorial Center (GMC) in Rwanda.

On the 9th of July, Premier Projects, the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) division of Premier Bet and Premier Loto, announced the opening of the Premier Projects Basketball Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

Premier Projects Basketball Arena

As part of its CSR objective, Premier Projects’ new strategy is to give back to the incredible community our partners, Premier Bet and Premier Loto operate in, using our core activity sports! For over 5 years, Premier Bet has actively developed its activity in Rwanda. This is exactly why this court, provided by the Gisimba Memorial Center (GMC), is a gift from Premier Projects, on behalf of Premier Bet Rwanda, to the people of Kigali.

Our wish is that the whole community could enjoy and practice sport in a safe, well-designed and bright environment. Premier Projects Basketball Arena is open to everyone and is a place to not only play basketball but also to gather and spend time together. This is the magic of sport and we believe it has the power to bring and elevate people together.

We decided to renovate this place to bring up the community and make them understand that we are here to support them, to let them nurture and keep growing on this playground

Introducing the Gisimba Memorial Center

The Gisimba Memorial Center is a place where children can come to get help, support and protection when their rights are threatened. It is creating after-school programs that provide academic and artistic enrichment to vulnerable youth in Kigali, Rwanda.

This social centre aims at using the arts to positively impact the local community.  They build strong relationships, heal families, restore dignity, and create hope in East African communities through them.

Basketball in Rwanda

The  Government of Rwanda firmly believes in the power of sports to create national unity and pride while improving the health of the people. Basketball is Rwanda’s second most popular sport and by far the most popular indoor sport in the country. Rwanda has a  professional basketball league called the National Basketball League. The league winner will advance to the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers.

Additionally, to support basketball’s rising popularity, the Rwandan government and Turkish Investment Company, Summa partnered to open the long-awaited Kigali Arena The Basketball Africa League. It is one of Africa’s largest indoor stadiums and will host major regional and international basketball events. Recently, the BAL 2022 playoffs and finals were held there from Saturday, May 21st to Saturday, May 28th.
