Premier Projects supports science and mathematics competition in Senegal

Premier Projects supported the Miss Mathematics/Miss Science award ceremony in Dakar, to encourage girls towards science and technical studies.

Premier Projects has partnered with the Senegalese Ministry of National Education to deliver the Miss Mathematics/Miss Science awards.

The ceremony took place in Dakar on July 16, 2021 with the mission to encourage girls to go into science and technical studies.

Crucial funding committed

Premier Projects, the community and charity department of Premier Bet, committed crucial funds to help the running of the ceremony. The partnership was formed as part of Education For All, the new campaign by Premier Projects to increase academic opportunities across Africa.

A spokesman for Premier Projects commented:

“We are delighted to be able to help host such an important ceremony in Dakar. Education is at the forefront of our community work and we believe events like this encourage young people to push forward in their studies.”

The theme of this year’s ceremony was policy surrounding young girls entering the scientific and technological field, in the face of new jobs linked to oil and gas.

Emphasis on education in Senegal

His Excellency Mr. Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal, has placed a huge importance of education and the development of people in his Emerging Senegal Plan.

The Plan aims to improve education, and therefore the skills of the nation and the employability of young people.

This falls in line with the Premier Projects vision; Education For All. As a part of the campaign, Premier Projects has committed to pay scholarships for students in Cameroon and Malawi, and support academic institutions in Congo.

The award ceremony at the Daniel Sorano National Theater in Dakar was the latest project under Education For All.
