Community basketball court in Mali renovated by Premier Projects

A community basketball court in Mali has been given a new lease of life by Premier Projects.

The court at Lafiabougou in Bamako had fallen into disrepair and was hard for the public to use.

Premier Projects, the community department of Premier Bet PMU, has now renovated the facility to a high standard.

A spokesman for Premier Projects commented:

“We are delighted to be able to stand in front of you and present this basketball court to the people of Bamako. “This is the latest project in our Sport For All campaign, with the purpose of improving accessibility to high quality sports facilities across the country.”
“Everyone at Premier Projects hopes you enjoy the basketball court and we encourage you to look out for more of our community work in Mali.”

The opening ceremony of the Chaba court took place on May 26-27, 2021. A tournament between ten teams from the area took place, to officially introduce the court to the public.

AS Real, AS Mande, CARBS, CBS, USFAS, CDL, COL, BAC, AS Baobab and FC Gaoussou competed in the event.

Premier Projects launched their Sport For All campaign in February 2021. Projects have included the building of new community facilities, renovation of existing courts and partnerships with local clubs.

In Mali, relationships have been formed with top-flight football clubs, as well as the AS Police basketball team.

The Chaba court is now officially open and can be used by any member of the public.
