Premier Projects throws weight behind boxing in Congo

Premier Projects hosted a community boxing tournament in the Republic of Congo, with cash prizes dished out to the winners.

The tournament featured five boxing clubs from across Brazzaville and was hosted at the Stade Alphonse Massemba-Débat, the national stadium of Congo.

Cash rewards were given to the gold, silver and bronze medalists in each of the five weight categories. The amount given away by Premier Projects totaled 170,000F CFA.

Premier Projects, the community department of sports betting giant Premier Bet and Premier Loto, also made a significant donation to the RNK boxing association.

This included training equipment such as a boxing ring, punch bags, jump ropes and much more.

The company has been on a mission to improve accessibility to sports across Africa. Under their campaign, Sport For All, facilities have been built in Ghana, Angola and Cameroon to name a few.

A spokesman for Premier Projects said: “As a corporate citizen of Brazzaville, we believe it’s our duty to give back to the communities we work in. This tournament was designed to be competitive and fun, whilst giving an opportunity for people to compete in a high-quality facility.

“Sport For All is bringing more events like this to people in Africa, regardless of wealth, ability or gender.

“We want to thank the RNK, the Stade Alphonse Massamba-Débat and all of the competitors for this wonderful tournament.”

Premier Projects hosted another sports tournament in Brazzaville in December 2020. A 5-a-side football competition was held in the city to celebrate the festive season.

The organisation has also helped Congolese nurses during the pandemic and has big plans for the rest of 2021.
