Premier Projects has shown its support to women in Mozambique with a donation to Girl Move.
The Nampula-based NGO accepted the 400,000 MT ($6,400) donation as part of the Women’s Day celebrations in Mozambique.
Girl Move’s mission is to create a new generation of women leaders in Mozambique. They do this by creating a movement of life, support and empowerment among women, through education.
The donation by Premier Projects was used to support Girl Move’s “CHANGE” programme. The programme aims to send 33 women to school, from primary age up to university. The payment was used for trainers, professors and change makers for a one-year period.
A spokesman for Premier Projects said: “Girl Move is an amazing NGO in Mozambique. They are doing everything they can to support women in the country. We could not be happier to support Girl Move on Women’s Day in Mozambique.”
Every year, approximately 35 “Girl Movers,” 120 mentors and 1,200 girls mutually impact each other’s lives for good. This contributes to a sharp reduction of early pregnancies, premature marriages and school dropouts.
