Premier Projects builds new basketball court at disability centre in Ghana

A new basketball court has been built in Ghana by Premier Projects.

Premier Projects, the community sector of Premier Bet, funded the work at the Accra Rehabilitation Centre in Ghana.

The basketball court gifts residents of the centre a facility to stay healthy and to have fun.

The court is also open to the community, meaning that Accra has a new, first class facility for recreational sports.

A gift to Ghana

A spokesman for Premier Projects said: “Today is a proud day for everyone associated with Premier Projects and Premier Bet. We believe everybody has the right to access sports facilities and to stay fit and healthy.

“The Accra Rehabilitation Centre do such important work for Ghanaians living with disability. Therefore we are pleased to present them with this basketball court.”

Sport For All

The news follows the launch of Sport For All, the campaign by Premier Projects to improve access to sports facilities across Africa.

The Accra Rehabilitation Centre lies in the heart of Adabraka. Since it opened in 1962, the centre has provided trainees with life and work skills. This has enabled them to live a dignified life.

Beauty Fiato, a national basketball player in Ghana, commented: “We thank Premier Bet because they have done a lot for us. We are very grateful for the court they have provided.”

Hardships in Ghanaian basketball

Fiato went on to comment about the financial hardships basketball players have faced in Ghana. She said the court would solve some of their issues.

The basketball court follows similar constructions by Premier Projects across Africa. Providing sporting facilities for communities to stay fit is at the forefront of their charitable work.
