Essential sanitation kits donated to Mali communities in need

Premier Projects has donated hundreds of sanitation kits to struggling communities around Bamako.

Premier Bet PMU has donated hundreds of sanitary items to deprived communities in Mali.

The company’s charity sector, Premier Projects, organized the donation of soaps, masks, sanitizers and gloves to five areas close to the capital, Bamako.

These sanitation kits have come at a crucial time for residents. With the COVID-19 pandemic still impacting people’s lives, access to such equipment is more necessary than ever.

A human right

A spokesman for Premier Projects stated: “Access to important health and sanitation equipment is something we believe is a human right for all. Whilst Mali has made great strides in providing this for citizens over recent years, there is still work to be done.

“As a company that hires thousands of Malians, we also understand we have a duty of care to give back to our communities, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic.”

The communities that received the packs were Niamana, Yorodianbougou, Yirimadjo, Senou and Banconi. All of these are close to Bamako.

Mali has been through a stage of upheaval in 2020. In August, a military coup ousted President Ibrahim Boubacar Keïta. Coronavirus also claimed 130 lives in the West African country.

During these uncertain times, Premier Projects has not stopped with their charitable work. Earlier in the year, PPE was donated to hospitals across Bamako. As a result, health workers were able to do their duty in a safe environment.
